The event brings together the cream of the Australian student crop, giving them a taste of what it is like to be a fighter jet pilot. Our brief was to create a stunning, fast paced, evocative and fun stylisation of flying a fighter jet which included the use of projection mapping technology. Overall we had to produce a piece which would stir up a desire in the attendees to take that step and become a fast jet pilot. At a certain point in the evening, the attendees were ushered down a dark corridor, as alarms and and lights flashed. Brought into the vast projection space, the countdown began and the screening started. The visuals were screened across a 50 foot space, the focus on a central fighter jet as it flies through a variety of scenarios and environments. The plane itself was a to-scale physical model of the jet upon which additional visuals were projected. As a whole, the 4 minute screening combined a variety of projection techniques and visual treatments. The aim was to create a poetic and visually engaging piece for intelligent viewers, with visual metaphors that represent the stance of SBS World News. Abstract carrier pigeons reveal news footage. Shadows and light play creates patterns which illuminate the channel's multiple angles and depth of coverage to news stories. To stay at the forefront, the news is collected through night and day ending with a murmuration of wings flocking together as the accumulation of information, brought directly to our world. Our approach was to focus not on futuristic notions but to consider that which is timeless. People, the expression of self and the interactions between each other are timeless qualities relevant to creativity, no matter what the future holds. The concept started quite fluidly, by briefing a variety of dancers, with individual performance styles, to develop choreography based on the concepts of growth, sharing, sending and receiving. Directed by Nathan Drabsch, the performances were shot over one day using two RED Epic cameras, capturing the action at high speed. All design, editing and post production was done in-house by The DMCI team. We worked closely with composers and audio designers Mark Brandis & Jeff Black from ism studios, to create a unique score that perfectly compliments the performances. As a whole, the focus is on the dancers as they create and interact with abstract forms in a vast unknown world. Their own movements determine the creation and final destruction of these elements. Their own paths of communication and creative expression have come full circle, and all that remains is the individual. <img to create their latest idents. The brief was to create an impactful, visually inventive campaign which conveyed the trust, love and educational credentials of the channel whilst maintaining the warmth and playfulness that is characteristic of Nick Jr. The IDs take the everyday actions and activities of young kids and place them in an evolving Nick Jr world. Referencing the channel package we created additional characters and elements to create a wonderfully vivid and fun world, where children play and interact with their favourite Nick Jr characters such as Dora and Diego, Bubble Guppies, Backyardigans and Wonder Pets, amongst others. Following a particularly fun shoot with the children, a core edit was created and thus began the creation of the Nick Jr world, a combination of 2D and 3D animation evolving around the live action of the children. The result, a celebration of childhood fun and fantasy that will get the kids singing and dancing along with their favourite Nick Jr characters. Networks approached The DMCI to update all their corporate stationery. The project required us to bring the MTV brands under the one network banner whilst still reflecting the vibrancy of the platform. Working closely with MTV Creative Director Sven Müller, we developed a core graphic language and overarching image that would carry across all media. The first installment was a large format poster. The business cards and letterheads were derived from this core image. Always conscious of sustainable practice and lessening a businesses impact, we developed a sticker system which can be utilised across all other stationery needs, such as comp slips and various labeling. The result is a sophisticated yet vibrant brand update that provides the corporate needs whilst maintaining the youthful edge of the channels. We delivered a combination of motion control, live action and motion graphics to add a little magic to the way a family uses their Mitsubishi Electric appliances. We worked closely with Mitsubishi Electric through the whole process and came up with a campaign that recognises the product at the centre of a busy home. Harnessing the radness of a motion control rig equipped with the Arri Alexa we then completed all post production in The DMCI Flame suite. The result, a slick and fresh approach to the Mitsubishi Electric campaign.
